What is design with empathy and how does it improve the quality of design?

1. Launch
Objective: After watching the video which introduced human-centered design, learners recall that when designing the spaghetti tower and pom pom launcher (design for function) they did not necessarily connect with another person’s needs.
2. Explore
Objectives: Learners demonstrate skill defining the needs of a character and generating solution ideas to meet that need.
3. Summarize
Objective: Learners will engage in whole class discussion on what it means to design for someone's needs and can differentiate between design for function and design with empathy.
